Depending on the services to be provided, the Floyd Law Office bills as follows:
- Flat Fee. Under this type of arrangement, we agree with the client on a set price for the legal work to be performed. For example, the Floyd Law Office charges a flat rate of $1,500.00 for filing and processing a trademark application (word mark only; does not include federal filing fees). Our flat fee quotes always include applicable filing and other “extra” fees.
- Hourly. Here, the client pays an hourly fee to the law firm for the actual work that is performed. This Floyd Law Office charges an hourly rate of $300.00 per hour under this type of fee arrangement (unless one of our of-counsel associates performs the work at a lower hourly rate).
When matters are billed on an hourly basis, the Floyd Law Office requires a reasonable initial payment – called a “retainer”. Our office will deduct hourly fees from the retainer as work is performed. If the retainer becomes depleted, the client must deposit more funds. If work is completed and the retainer is not depleted, the Floyd Law Office will refund any unearned funds.
The Floyd Law Office does not engage in contingency fee arrangements. For qualifying clients, we sometimes accommodate flexible payment arrangements although such arrangements may require collateralization.

Before our first meeting, make a few notes. Be able to tell your story or describe your legal needs in an organized manner. If certain documents are important to your case, email them to chuck@floydlawoffice.net prior to the consultation. However, keep in mind that we cannot digest vast amounts of material prior to an initial consultation or thoroughly analyze a document during the initial consultation.
We understand the Floyd Law Office is not the right fit for every situation and, when we are not, often help would-be clients locate more suitable representation.
